Herbal butter basic recipe: quick & easy to prepare

Steaks and sausages are part of a grill party, like bread for a snack. But what shouldn't be missing is herb butter, which you can prepare yourself in no time at all.

In addition to sausages and meat, a grill party also includes some important ingredients and side dishes. Above all, of course, the herb butter, which not only refines steaks, but also corn cobs, for example. You can buy ready-made herb butter in the shop, but if you make it yourself from fresh ingredients, you can refine the herb butter according to your own taste. Various flavorings that you can confidently do without are often added to the ones you buy.

The production of herb butter is not that difficult and even less experienced cooks can do it in a very short time. You can completely decide for yourself what you put in. It doesn't matter whether you use fresh or frozen herbs. However, so that you first know what belongs in a herb butter from the ground up, a simple herb butter recipe is presented here.

Ingredients for 4 persons):

  • 250 g butter
  • 80 g fresh herbs or frozen herbs
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • salt
  • White pepper

Preparation of the herb butter:

➥ Step 1:

First of all, you should put the piece of butter in a bowl and beat in it until it is foamy. For this to happen, you should not take the butter straight out of the fridge, but take it out about an hour earlier so that it can reach room temperature.

➥ Step 2:

Wash the fresh herbs (e.g. parsley, chives, thyme, rosemary, oregano, basil etc.) well and shake them dry. Then chop finely with a knife. The herbs become even finer if you chop them in a food processor. You can of course save yourself this work with frozen herbs.

3 Step 3:

You have to be careful with the amount of garlic, because if you use too much, all the butter will taste like it. Then you no longer have herb butter, but garlic butter.

Now crush the peeled clove of garlic with a garlic press and add it with a pinch of salt and a little pepper to the frothy butter.

Tip:

If you have a bad breath after eating garlic, you should use wild garlic instead of garlic. It tastes like garlic, but you don't get bad breath from it.

4 Step 4:

After you have mixed everything well, you should shape the butter into a roll or rectangle and then place it in the fridge so that it can solidify.

Tip:

If you want to portion the herb butter straight away, you can also put it in a piping bag and spray lots of small portions on aluminum foil. Then put them in the fridge as well so that they become firm.

Alternatively, you can spread the herb butter in a silicone ice cube mold and conjure up pretty small portions of herb butter. Simply swipe into the mold and then into the freezer. Then the herb butter pieces can be easily removed from the mold.

By the way:

You can then keep the homemade herb butter in the fridge for a few days. Of course, you can also wrap them in foil and store them in the freezer.
